Museum of the order of the Liberation

The Order of the Liberation was created by General de Gaulle in November 1940 to honour the fighters who made an outstanding contribution to the liberation of France. The Museum of the Order of the Liberation was founded after the Order of the Liberation moved into the Hôtel National des Invalides, a decisionmade by its founder and Grand Master, General de Gaulle.

At this memorial museum in a prestigious setting at the heart of historic military Paris, France's second national order tells the story of the Companions of the Liberation, including Free France, the interior Resistance and the deportation. The Museum invites you to learn all about the Second World War through these exceptional destinies.
