Our projects

Supporting the Musée de l’Armée means that your donation will become part of the history of the prestigious site of the Invalides, the destiny of which – from Louis XIV to Napoleon and up until the 5th Republic – has intricate links with the History of France.

Acquisition projects and projects to redevelop the permanent spaces

In order to accommodate increasing numbers of visitors, the Musée de l’Armée has launched a project for the renovation of its existing permanent exhibition spaces, notably within the Arms and Armour itinerary and the rooms devoted to the World Wars, and also – through the MINERVE project – for the creation of an extension.

The monument’s renovation, the opening of new rooms, the restoration of its collections and decor and the enhancement of its collections through acquisitions: the scale and success of such projects are linked to our patrons’ generosity.

Ambitious exhibitions

Each year the Museum’s programme is structured around two major temporary exhibitions that constitute unmissable cultural events.

Each exhibition welcomes between 50,000 and 100,000 visitors to a dedicated space of 600m2 and aims to provide different responses to our contemporaries’ questions and interests, whilst retaining a spirit of conviviality involving intergenerational exchange.

Two to four editorials complete this programme.

Supporting the Invalides’ musical season

Established 25 years ago, with the support of its partners, the Invalides’ musical season continues to reinvent itself, in order that its music may resonate with the Musée de l’Armée’s activities. Its programme highlights its most prestigious military buildings, in particular Saint Louis cathedral with its great organ and historic organ case and the Grand Salon with its perfect acoustics, and also the finest military ensembles and their repertoires.

Supporting the Musée de l’Armée’s musical programme means perpetuating the Invalides’ association with music by becoming part of its long tradition of transmission and promoting young talent.

Accessibility and the transfer of knowledge

The Musée de l’Armée provides knowledge of our national history and transmits it to future generations. Throughout the year the Museum offers a rich and ambitious cultural programme aimed at young audiences and families; Christmas at the Invalides, a digital programme, original guided tours and other family activities punctuate life at the Museum. Patrons can provide support for mediation, the cultural and educational programme, multimedia, the spaces devoted to young audiences and families, etc.

The development of its publishing and scientific research policy.

The Musée de l’Armée’s publications (exhibition catalogues, works on the permanent collections, study and research notebooks, the Musée de l’Armée’s magazine, etc.) preserve and disseminate knowledge associated with the items, works and documents that constitute its resources and those housed in the Hôtel National des Invalides. The Museum’s scientific activities are also based on its rich annual programme of symposia, study days, conferences and round tables devoted to national and international military history.
