The Musée de l’Armée, through a selection of photographs taken by Léon Herschtritt (1936–2020) among others, provides a fresh insight on General de Gaulle’s tour of inspection of the areas of operation in Algeria, at a time when violent riots were taking place in some of the large cities, already heralding a decisive turning point in the war.
