An immersive experience at the heart of the Invalides
AURA Invalides is a monumental artwork in which the play of light, orchestral music and video mapping combine with the Dôme des Invalides’ majestic gilded architecture that has lit up the Parisian skies for over three centuries.
An unforgettable experience at the heart of this historic architectural legacy!
AURA Invalides lasts for 50 minutes and takes place in the evening after the sun has set; visitors are invited to share in a timeless collective experience under the Dôme’s 60-metre-high painted cupola, where classical architecture and digital creativity interact in a succession of enchanting acoustic tableaux.
A timeless experience
Inaugurated by Louis XIV in 1706, the Dôme des Invalides – which has housed Napoleon I’s tomb since 1861 – constitutes both a majestic backdrop and central figure in the AURA Invalides immersive experience.
Designed by teams of artists, this visual and acoustic work is inspired by the site’s symbolism and genius, and reveals the creative achievement of its architect, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, in all its splendour.
Its meandering pace and threefold structure - construction, memories, elevation – provide visitors with a timeless interlude in which to tune in to the monument.
